Who it is for

Web designers and agencies prospecting local businesses.

What it solves

Automates the research step behind finding and qualifying businesses with visibly weak websites.

LeadRot found US local businesses with outdated websites, scored the opportunity and generated useful outreach context for designers and agencies.

I sold the project for $2,000. The transfer taught me more about clean handover architecture than the build itself.

Why I built it

I wanted to turn the manual process of finding poor local-business websites into a prospecting product for other web professionals.

Biggest lesson

A product can be transferable in code and still be painful to transfer if its operation depends on too many seller-owned accounts and API setups.

Operator notes

The difficult handover directly changed the architecture of later build-to-sell products: official APIs, BYOK where possible, managed hosting and cleaner account separation.
